Littera 1.4 Comes With Twitter Support

March 25th, 2010

We are pleased to roll out this new release which has a single new feature: Twitter sync service. You can now easily harvest web links in tweets into your reading list.

Coopla Littera Twitter Tweets

To use it, setup the sync service for reading list the same way as Delicious or RSS Feed. You can now see a new “Twitter” option. You can specify the source of tweets using one of four options:

  • Tweets from a user

Enter the Twitter username to retrieve links tweeted by this user. For example, enter “engadget” if you would like the reading list to retrieve web links mentioned by tweets from Engadget.

  • Tweets mentioning a user

Enter the Twitter username with an “@” in front, for example @twitter. This is a convention in Twitter world for mentions such as a reply.

  • Tweets containing a hashtag

Enter the hashtag (for example #iphone) and Littera will retrieve tweets containing the specified hashtag.

  • Tweets from query string

Enter a query string supported by Twitter search API. This will allow you to specify advanced operators for filtering the tweets. For example entering “#iphone AND #apps” will retrieve tweets containing both #iphone and #apps hashtags. Check out Twitter Search Operator page for list of available options.

Please note that tweets without any web links will be filtered off. This is designed so that you can focus on tweets containing links only.

It is common for tweets to shorten web address due to Twitter’s 140 characters limit. Littera will expand the shortened URL to full address when retrieving the tweets into reading list.

Please download the free version of Littera to try out this new feature. We hope you will find the app useful.

Using Littera to Read Google Buzz Public Updates

March 4th, 2010

Google Buzz is the new social networking platform that allows you to update status, start conversations and has tight integration with GMail. Public Buzz updates are available as Atom RSS feed, which is one of the supported service in Littera. It is easy to setup Littera to read Google Buzz public updates.

Public Buzz updates feed URL is in the form:

http://buzz.googleapis.com/feeds/{user}/public/posted

where {user} is the user id.

Some URL examples:

  • http://buzz.googleapis.com/feeds/mashable/public/posted
  • http://buzz.googleapis.com/feeds/engadget/public/posted
  • http://buzz.googleapis.com/feeds/cooplaapps/public/posted

To setup a reading list under Littera to display the feed, add a new reading list and select the “RSS Feed” sync service. Select the option “Enter feed url” and enter the Buzz public updates URL.

Once setup, you can read the updates by syncing Littera with the feed service.
